The series follows a new homicide detective (Jesse Giuntoli) who learns that they is a descendent of a gaggle of hunters known as “Grimms”, who fight to keep humanity safe through the supernatural creatures of the earth.

It was announced within January 2011 that NBC had ordered a string entitled Grimm. David Greenwalt and Micheal Kouf co-wrote the preliminary, which was directed through Marc Buckland. Filming for the preliminary began in March inside Portland, Oregon. It was announced within May 2011 that NBC had found the series.
Greenwalt and Kouf provide as executive producers for your series along with Sean Hayes and also Todd Milliner. The series is made by Universal Media Studios as well as Hazy Mills Productions. It is filmed on location near Portland.
On September 30, 2011, NBC decided to hold up the debut of Grimm by moving the premiere night out from October 21 to October 28, 2011, so it could premiere nearer to Halloween.
